The weeks before and after Easter were absolutely insane at work. The park was hitting capacity at certain points throughout each day. When this happens, guests are stopped before they even get to the park entrance - sometimes as far away as the parking toll booths! They also warn guests not to leave because they risk not being able to get back in. I was luckily never working during these times, but I did work through a lot of high-traffic times. People are crazy and it seems like they all forget their brains at home when they come to Disney World! Some of the most difficult guests to work with are the foreigners. The language barriers that exist make it sooo hard to help them.
During the spring break rush, I was working super late. I would close almost every night, which usually meant I was working until at least 2am. There were four nights that I had to work until 4:15am! Those are tough because I don't get home until about 5. My coworkers make it bearable, though. I have made a lot of close friends that make going to work fun. One of my closest friends down here so far is Sarah. She's from Ohio and goes to school in Utah. Her and I have a blast together! We are always laughing and everyone else around us thinks we are crazy... we're just having fun! I've also gotten pretty close with one of my coordinators, Maren (she even donated $5 to my MS walk!). Sarah and I joke around with her by telling her how much we love the turnstiles. Every time she looks at us while we're working, we hug the turnstiles... she thinks it's hysterical.
Nicole, me, Sarah and Ashley are all smiles at the end of our 4:15am shift!
There are still a lot of guests coming in every day, but it has definitely slowed down a bit. Also, my shifts are much shorter so they go by quicker which is nice. There are a lot of guests coming over from the UK right now. I was talking to a guest one day and they were explaining to me how popular Easter is over in the UK and how widely celebrated it is compared to in the US. They get several weeks off for the holiday as opposed to the few days we get here. What is most amazing about these guests is that their tickets are usually 14 day tickets which means they have two weeks worth of entrances to Disney parks! I think that is insane considering my Dad, Nicole and I did all four parks in two days!
During spring break, we did not have any classes because scheduling does not allow us to have any times blocked out. For instance, each week the scheduling department makes sure that I am not working from 8:30-3:30 on Wednesday's because I will be in class. Since they need so many cast members working during spring break, the department does not guarantee that those times will be blocked out, so they just cancel classes. Classes resumed this past Wednesday. For my leadership class, we went to the Magic Kingdom and explored all of the different themes and stories that are told throughout the park. Most of it was stuff that I had already been taught, but there were a few new things that I learned. For example, it is known that guests are more likely to go to their right when moving forward which is why wheelchair, stroller and locker rentals are on the right side of the entrance. In my marketing class, we had guest speakers talking about the Disney Vacation Club. One of the presenters was from Long Island so afterwards I started talking to her and it turns out that her mom is a teacher that I used to know back in fourth grade! What a small world!
Outside of class and work and all of that boring stuff, I have been enjoying time with friends! On the Saturday before Easter, Sarah and I went to meet Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny! We had lots of fun and got free peeps :). Easter Sunday was one of the days that we had to work until 4:15am, so in order to make it more bearable, I made Easter baskets for my coworkers and had an egg hunt around our break room. They were very appreciative and it made working so late more fun!

Sarah, Taylor and I! We all trained together on turnstiles and are great friends still :)
My MS walk was last week and it was a huge success. I went with my roommates Stacey, Kacey and Nicky. We had a blast, got some exercise, and raised awareness for a great cause. I was able to raise over $3,000 which is absolutely amazing considering my first goal was only $500! The park that it was held at was about a half an hour away but it was gorgeous. There was a neighborhood around it that had some of the nicest houses I have ever seen. It made me actually want to live in Florida! (JUST KIDDING). Overall, it was a great day!

This past week has been a fun one. On Tuesday, I went and saw Jurassic Park in 3D with one of my work friends, Jessica. I thought it was going to be really scary but it turned out to be pretty good. On Wednesday, I had my two classes and then I went to Universal with my roommates Stacey, Kacey, Tara and Ashley. The lines were pretty short so we were able to get a lot done! They all bought annual passes so now we can go whenever!
First I saw the movie, then I was in it! Jurassic Park @ Universal Studios
Earlier that day, during my class at Magic Kingdom, Stacey and I had met a kid named Jordan from New Jersey. He was really nice and friendly and the three of us bonded immediately over what we missed from the northeast. He invited us out to dinner with his friends that night so when we got back from Universal, we headed over to O'hana. O'hana is located at Disney's Polynesian Resort and is known as the best restaurant on Disney property.. Boy, does it live up to that title! It's a family style restaurant and there is a set menu so you don't order anything. You start with a loaf of coconut pineapple bread. Next they bring out a huge plate with lo mein noodles, pork dumpling, honey barbeque chicken wings and stir-fry vegetables. Then, they come around with huge skewers. The skewers have chicken, pork, steak or shrimp on them. They keep coming back with the skewers so you can eat as much as you want. The food was absolutely amazing! Then, once you fill up on all of that, they bring out one of the best desserts I've ever had. It is a bread pudding with banana foster sauce with a huuuuge scoop of ice cream on top. We devoured it! Jordan asked for another scoop of ice cream, and instead of just ice cream they brought another whole dessert out! The second serving was even bigger than the first! It was definitely one of the best restaurants I have ever been to, and it was a ton of fun. There were four of us and even though Stacey and I had just met the other two, we laughed as if we had known them for years!

On Thursday I went to the dine-in movie theater with my friend Bryan and saw the new movie "42" about Jackie Robinson. The dine-in is pretty cool but also kind of weird. It's like a full service restaurant with a movie in front of you. I think I'd rather eat popcorn during the movie, not chicken fingers! Regardless, it was fun and the movie was really good!
The past two days have mostly been about work. I was able to get some new costume clothing which is nice because now I have multiple outfits and so I don't have to do laundry every other day. Today was my day off and I did a ton of cleaning. I did six loads of laundry! But now everything is clean - I even washed my pillows! I work again tomorrow and Tuesday, but then have Wednesday off for class. After class, I am meeting up with my co-op advisor from school because she is down in Orlando for a few days and wants to check-in. After that, I am heading over to another restaurant with Stacey, Jordan and Jazz! We are going to the 50's diner which is supposed to have a "grandma's kitchen" kind of feel. Apparently they yell at you if your elbows are on the table and show you a photo album with pictures of your "Great Aunt Betsy." I bet their lasagna won't be as good as Grandma's, though!
That's it for now, folks! I'll try and update soon. Love and miss you all!
